Tour overview

This 16 Days North East Special Tour will take you across  the states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh , Meghalaya. Witness the beauty of the North east unfold before you as you make your way through the Ziro valley and villages of the Apatani and Nishi tribes , get wowed by the 100 year old Living Root Bridge and Waterfalls of Weina and Langshiang  and the devotion of the pilgrims at the Kamakhya Temple and the Mechuka Monastery.

Day 01: ARRIVE GUWAHATI

Arrive Guwahati. On arrival check into hotel. Evening at leisure or if time permits, visit Kamakhya Temple situated in Nilachal Hill. Kamakhya temple is the prime Shakti shrine of the northeast India or go for Brahmaputra Dinner Cruise. Overnight.

DAY 02: GUWAHATI - SHILLONG

Today drive to Shillong (110 kms / 03 ½ hrs drive approx). Check in at hotel en route Barapani (Umium Lake). Later visit Ward’s Lake (closed on Tuesday), Don Bosco Museum (close on Sunday). Overnight in Shillong.

DAY 03: SHILLONG – MAWLLYNONG – DAWKI - SHILLONG

After early breakfast drive to Mawlynnong (110 kms/3 ½ hrs drive) Visit the Living Root Bridge. It is a 53 ft long bridge. Locally known as 'Jingkieng Deingjri' which means 'bridge of the rubber tree,' this bridge is remarkable in that it is more than a 100 years old. Then drive to Dawki (India – Bangladesh Border). Late afternoon drive back to Shillong. Overnight in Shillong.

Note: It is advisable to carry have packed lunch to Mwallynong.

DAY 04: SHILLONG – DAY TRIP TO NONGKHNUM ISLAND

Full day excursion at Nongkhum Island (03 Hrs drive approx) Overnight at Shillong. The Nongkhum River Island is the biggest river island in the Indian state of Meghalaya and the second biggest river island in Asia, after Majuli Island in Assam. Besides a sandy beach, the island has two waterfalls-the Weina Falls and the Langshiang Falls as well.

Day 05: SHILLONG – TEZPUR

After breakfast drive to Tezpur (300 kms / 7 hrs drive) check in hotel for overnight stay.

Day 06: TEZPUR – ITANAGAR (220 kms/4 ½ hours)

After breakfast drive Itanagar. On arrival check into Hotel. Later visit Ita Fort, State Museum (Friday, Saturday & government holidays closed). Overnight.

Day 07: ITANAGAR – ZIRO(160 kms/7 hours)

Today after breakfast we will set off for Ziro, 160 kms away. Before reaching Ziro we will stop at a village inhabited by NISHI tribes. Lunch on the way. Check into hotel on arrival. Evening visit to market. Return to hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 08: ZIRO

After breakfast we will be visiting APATANI villages. Ziro is one of the most traditional areas in Arunachal Pradesh. Dinner and overnight.

Day 09: ZIRO – DAPORIJO (160 kms/8 hours)

After breakfast we will be visiting APATANI villages and then proceed to Daporijo, 160 kms away. Enroute we will visit Tagin and HILL MIRI villages. These are the main tribes of this area. On arrival check into village guest house. Dinner and overnight.

Day 10: DAPORIJO – ALONG (160 kms/8 hours)

After breakfast in the morning we drive to Along. The main tribe of this area is ADI GALLONG. We will visit their villages on the way. On reaching Along we will visit local market. Your accommodation has been arranged at hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 11: ALONG – MECHUKA (180km/8 hrs)

After breakfast drive to Mechuka. Mechuka is a small town. Mechuka derived its name from Men (medicine) Chu (water) Kha (snow), means the water flowing from snow has medicinal value. On arrival check into private guest house.

Day 12: MECHUKA

After breakfast visit to on the right bank of river Yargap-Chu Gompa Samden Yangchak, is situated on a top of hill and it is believed to be constructed way back in 17th century by Lopen Pema Jungne. Guru Padma Sambhava in the course of his sacred odyssey of spreading the wheel of Dharma reached Mechuka (Bajashiri) and blessed for the constructioni of this Gompa. Then Lama Kham kadok, Lama Segya Rinpoche, Lama Lodre Gyatso reached the place and blessed the site for construction of this gompa. Lama Lodre Gyatso later on left for Tawang and ultimately Tarden Choellingbu constructed the gompa and the wheel of Dharma started spinning. Late afternoon visit local market. Dinner and overnight.

Day 13: MECHUKA – ALONG (180km/8 hrs)

After breakfast in & around sightseeing. And then drive back to Along.On arrival check into Hotel West. Dinner and overnight.

Day 14: ALONG – PASIGHAT (140 kms/ 5 hours)

We are going to Pasighat today. Visit more villages on the way. On arrival we check into Hotel. Evening visit local market. Dinner and overnight.

Day 15: PASIGHAT – DIBRUGARH (4 hrs drive + 01 hrs on ferry)

Morning drive to the ferry point and sail for about 01 hrs. Check into hotel. Evening at leisure. Dinner and overnight.

Day 16: DEPARTURE FROM DIBRUGARH

Morning drive to Dibrugarh airport in time to catch out going flight.
